The One Very Special Sweatshirt I Wouldn't Buy
Fortunately, I received it as a gift from my wife.
Some of my best pieces are the ones that my wife gifted me. Look at this giant fleece sweatshirt by Acne Studios. In no way I would buy one myself.
It’s HUGE. Here I’m wearing it OVER the Camber hoodie that is already quite boxy in itself.
It has two chest pockets. I get the big one. You can put sunglasses in there or a diary or whatever. But the other one with this weird ring closure? Yeah, I can ‘unlock’ it and then ‘lock’ it back to the second ring, but that just pulls the fabric. But why would I want to do this?… Do you have any idea how should I use it?
Then the drawstring collar. In general, I don’t mind a drawstring or two hanging from my collar. I even find them amusing. You know, like the ones on a hoodie. But again, I just can’t figure out its purpose here. For some reason, I mostly lean toward functional design. Even if I don’t use a particular function I like to think that I could if I wanted to.
It’s so warm, you wouldn’t want to wear it indoors.
I also prefer not to buy things that are made from polyester. I like to think that if a piece of clothing could be made from natural fibers, then it should be. With that being said, I do admit that mixed fibers make beautiful fabrics, especially in Japan.
You see now? I wouldn’t buy it myself.
Fortunately, I received it as a gift. Despite all of the above, it’s hella comfy. I don’t wear it often, but still, the fleece has been keeping its precious softness for several years now. Yeah, it’s that type of fleece fabric that looks soft, but is even softer to the touch. It has a very nice cotton lining on the inside. Normally, it’s too cold to wear just a sweatshirt during colder months. But with this Acne piece, I can do the impossible.
Love you, P <3
